The owner really went out of his way to help us during our stay and was always there when we needed something. He knows the area well, and the hostel was clean, comfortable and kept in great shape. His stargazing tour was a highlight, such a memorable experience, and it’s clear he cares about what he does. We had a fantastic stay and I’d highly recommend it.
The guesthouse sits in a quiet part of town, around a 20-minute walk from busy Caracoles Avenue. We slept away from the city noise at night, and there were plenty of grocery stores and a few local restaurants within an easy walk. We felt safe in the area and found the host very welcoming. It’s family-run, and Tote went out of his way to make us comfortable. He also runs a tour company with affordable trips to most, if not all, of the main attractions around Atacama. We had rented a car and didn’t need tours, but he still took time to ask how long we’d be there and suggest a sensible, no-nonsense itinerary. We did take his stargazing tour. Tote brought telescopes and shared a lot of astronomy knowledge. Away from town’s light pollution, at about 8,000 feet (around 2,500 m) with the thin atmosphere, it was well worth it. Breakfast was included in our booking. The bed was extremely comfortable, the shower had hot water and good pressure, and the available Wi-Fi was fast and worked well. The rooms don’t have climate control, so I imagine they could get hot in summer. We visited in spring, when nighttime temperatures were in the 10s C (50s F). For us it was excellent value, and if we return to San Pedro, staying here again would be an easy choice.
Daisy made us feel at home and was the loveliest. She was a big help with booking tours, and even drove us to the bus station when we were leaving. The rooms and breakfast are simple, but they have what you need. Great value, and I’d definitely come back.
The bedrooms were spotless, with really comfortable, cozy beds. Daisy was a fantastic host: breakfast was delicious and ready at the time we asked for, and she arranged an airport transfer and quickly brought us a hairdryer when we needed one. We couldn’t have asked for a better stay. Highly recommended!
The staff were super friendly, and Tote was always ready to help and answer our questions, even in the middle of the night. Be sure to book his stargazing tour, it’s beautiful!
