Fernando led the horseback ride, and it was a truly great experience. The garden tour ended up being a favourite too. It was fascinating to see how Vik cares about the local environment and culture, and to sample some of the produce that’s used at the hotel. We also toured the winery. It was a surprise, and really informative to see the scale of the investment in Vik production. It finished with a tasting of five wines down in the cellars. All three activities were enjoyable and worthwhile, and I’d recommend them. Our full experience booking included breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, and dinner. The concierge had arranged the wine tour, garden tour, and horseback riding before we arrived. If you can afford the full experience, I’d recommend it.

We spent four nights at the Vik hotel, staying in one of the separate bungalows. The views were wonderful, and the property was comfortable and relaxing. Service was exceptional throughout, and the food was excellent, especially at the restaurant attached to the Winery. The Chocolate and Wine tasting was a little below expectations, but the empanada cooking class was absolutely outstanding. Definitely worth a visit.

The scenery is unbeatable, and the rooms are beautiful, with a great pool. But with construction happening throughout the hotel, the stay wasn’t relaxing. A crew was replacing flowers in the atrium, cabanas were being built by the pool, and there was loud work right below our window. We still paid over 700 usd. Turn-down service only meant they turned down the bed, without doing anything else. We were disappointed that the hotel made us late for our wine tasting. Afterwards we waited 30 minutes for a shuttle back with four other guests, and two people had to wait for a later one. The food was good, though it didn’t compete with the other top wineries we visited. The wine wasn’t that great, and they didn’t really bring out any of their best bottles for the included tastings. I also had to ask twice before I got the bath salts I’d requested. This didn’t feel like a five-star experience. Not worth it.

The suites, especially the Fornasetti suite, have over-the-top art, and dining was great at breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with food made using produce from their garden and local ingredients. The architecture, art, service, amenities, and activities all made for a truly once-in-a-lifetime experience. My highest recommendation.

We booked four nights in February 2025, after a week of strenuous hiking in Patagonia, hoping to rest and enjoy the pool and Vik’s award-winning spa. Instead, we learned just one day before arrival that the spa was closed for construction. It had been moved temporarily to a villa, but none of the signature treatments I’d read about on social media were available. The treatment rooms were bedrooms with regular twin beds, not massage tables. If we’d known there’d be no real spa experience, we probably wouldn’t have booked. Even two nights would have been plenty, since the property is isolated and there isn’t enough to do there for a longer stay. Other things to visit are quite far away. Construction on other villas also made the pool area extremely loud, nothing like the relaxing atmosphere we’d been promised. The property has potential to be fantastic, but that wasn’t our experience in October of that year. It was warm, and the air conditioning in our room didn’t work, making it very uncomfortable to sleep. On the second night they brought us a portable unit. It was loud and didn’t cool the room at all. The next day they said they’d look into it, but only confirmed what we’d already told them, that it didn’t work. They offered to move us the following day, our last night, but moving for one night seemed like too much work. At checkout, we heard other guests say their air conditioning wasn’t working either, and that they’d been told it was because of construction. After leaving, I included all of this in my review response email and asked someone to contact me. I’ve also emailed the main reservations address several times. I know someone monitors it because we’d exchanged emails before the trip, yet in the last two months nobody has acknowledged my message or gotten in touch. Vik should have warned guests with bookings about the construction and offered a discounted rate or a chance to rebook. The experience and the lack of communication were extremely disappointing.
