Abba Presidente Suites Santiago

The hotel's location is good, near the metro and within walking distance of the center, in a quiet area. Breakfast had lots of variety and was great, the evening meals were good too, and the waitress was great. The rest of our experience was awful. We asked for an early morning call because we had a taxi to San Antonio, but they didn't call. They even argued that they had. Luckily, we woke up in time, or we might have missed boarding our ship. We'd been advised to take a trusted taxi company to San Cristóbal, so we asked the hotel for a taxi and explained that the cable cars were closed for four days for maintenance and we wanted to go to the funicular. The driver dropped us at the cable car and told us to walk up. Since we knew everything was closed, we asked someone to call the hotel and request another taxi. They said they would, but we had no phone connection. After waiting an hour and a half, we borrowed a phone and called again. The hotel said the taxi was on its way. Four and a half hours later, a couple took us back to their hotel, where we called for a taxi. We'd wasted the day standing in a car park. Back at our hotel, reception blamed the taxi company and said they'd complain later, not while we were there. Their behavior was despicable. They treated us like people they'd never see again and showed no concern about how it affected our stay. It really tainted Santiago for us, and sadly we wouldn't recommend staying here.

For this price range, I think it's a pretty good choice. The room was large and quiet, with a mini kitchen, an iron and ironing board, and a safe. There was no bathtub. There's a small indoor heated pool, big enough to get some exercise, but no gym or spa. Breakfast was okay. The restaurant has a pretty good menu with a starter, main course, dessert, and one non-alcoholic drink. I'd give it a 4.5 for its category if I could.

The hotel was very clean, the staff were friendly, and the location was great. The only small downside is that the rooms don't have desks, though I knew that when I booked, so it's not a complaint.

Decadent is the word that best describes this hotel to me. On vacation with my children, I had a shameful stay for a hotel claiming to be four stars. There was a leak in the bathroom, so after a lot of insisting, we were moved to another suite. It had the same problem. A manager stepped in and handled things, though I can't remember his name. Without that, I would have left. Another man who introduced himself as the manager refused to move us to another room and arrogantly told me that I might as well leave the hotel when I said I would. He was an unprepared professional. I won't return or recommend this hotel. I'll be filing a formal complaint with Brazil's Ministry of Tourism, the responsible agency in Chile, and the travel agency.
