The main issue was payment. They tried to charge more than the price on our booking, so we had to insist that they honor the reservation terms, which we had printed. The manager eventually did. Their rules for accepting US$ bills were also the strictest we encountered in Chile, and they even complained that the bills were folded in half. I don't know anyone who carries cash unfolded in a wallet. They accepted them after we insisted. For the price, though, the hotel is worth it. It's clean and comfortable, close to the center, with a plentiful breakfast buffet. The oatmeal with fresh fruit was especially nice. Its historic building also limits what they can change.

The staff were extremely helpful and friendly, happy to book taxis for us and call to confirm tours. The location is really good too. The exterior of the building is much nicer than the rooms, which are very dated and short on amenities. The place badly needs a refresh inside.

The front door locking and unlocking system was poor, and the walls were so thin we could hear everything. Our room had a blurred window connected to another room, so we could see and hear people passing by. One of us was harassed by the owner for no reason. The owners were also rowdy past midnight.

The rooms have plenty of space, and the location works well for seeing downtown. Free Wi-Fi is handy too. The lobby, bar, and café feel cramped, though, and some rooms have a musty smell. There’s no elevator or parking.

The breakfast buffet was excellent, even if the bacon was almost raw. We found the rooms comfortable and spacious, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Getting downtown or to the Metro was easy.
