I was traveling alone on a budget, so the shared bathroom and single room worked fine for the two nights I booked. Room 5 had a couple of quirks: the lock takes some fiddling, pull the handle to take pressure off the bolt before turning the key. A screw in the curtain rod also catches the curtain when you try to draw it back. I booked Tralkan B&B through Delta and was told to confirm with the property over whatsapp. They sent a link to pay part of the stay in advance, with the balance due in cash, either dollars or pesos, when I arrived. I had skis with me, and the staff kept my bags safe while I went out for a few hours, well before the 1pm check-in. It was perfectly adequate for what I needed, a clear example of a 2-star hotel.

The rooms are quite nice, especially for someone traveling alone, and the manager was friendly and ready to help with anything. Restaurants, supermarkets, and pharmacies are easy to get to from this pretty good area. Good value for the money. Excellent.

I hate leaving a bad review, honestly, but I have to explain what happened. I booked 2 nights through Booking 3 months ahead because I wanted somewhere affordable and well located, since I only planned to sleep there. I contacted the owner with a few questions, and he said I needed to pay for one night in advance. That seemed fine. Later, while traveling, I realized I needed 3 nights instead of 2. I told him, he agreed, and I paid ahead. Right after that payment, he asked what time my flight arrived. The employee was only there until 9pm, he said, and if I got there later I would have to pay US$ 20. I thought that was odd because Booking lists the place as a hotel, and fees like that aren't common. My flight arrived earlier than expected, so I made it at 8:50pm. The employee was waiting at the address listed on Booking. But after I paid, she told me we were going to “the actual hotel.” That seemed strange too, but I went along. The real place was nearby. It was an old, poorly maintained mansion, and as soon as we entered there was a strong moldy, closed-up smell. It was dim and everything looked run down. When she opened the room, I couldn't believe it. It looked nothing like the Booking photos. There was no ventilation, it was terribly stuffy, and it had only a bed and bathroom. Then the problems started. There was a cockroach in the bathroom when I arrived. After dinner, we found a huge spider in there. The only air vent was infested with cockroaches. The place was in terrible shape, with lots of mold, loose flooring, and crumbling walls. There was even a sign on the door saying “clausurado,” which suggested the place shouldn't even be operating. I immediately knew I couldn't stay there. It was 10pm. I contacted the owner, and he replied that he couldn't do anything right then. I got nervous and started looking for somewhere else to sleep because I couldn't stay in a room with cockroaches and spiders. I found another hotel, left the key, and let the owner know. He refunded part of the money. I'm sharing this especially to warn women traveling alone. I never felt safe there. The photos don't match what it's actually like, the conditions are unhealthy, and the place doesn't feel secure.

We chose to give up the whole reservation fee instead of spending another minute there. The room was filthy and dusty, with a damp, stagnant-water smell; the bathroom was moldy, the TV didn't work, and the bed felt ready to collapse. There was no lock on the room door. The cleaner blasted music at one point, and upstairs footsteps came through while things kept dropping onto the bathroom ceiling. A terrible experience.

The neighborhood is fine if all you need is a place to sleep, but for the high price I wouldn't go if you want to relax or care about the details. They should use those rates to fix the place. The furniture was in rough shape, and the little covered patio was full of pigeon droppings. In the room, the bed was against the wall and there was barely 50 cm of space to reach the bathroom, which smelled strongly of stagnant water. Its door had no lock, so we had to wedge it shut with a towel. The room door had a hole covered with duct tape and could only be locked from inside. My friend and I stayed for two days. We got breakfast only the first day, and only because we called ahead. There was never anyone around, and they didn't give us towels or toiletries for an extra day. There's a kitchen, but cooking isn't allowed and you can be fined for it.
