Travellers Place Hostel

The room was freezing, and there was no hot water, so we had to take cold showers. For a private room, it was so tiny we could barely fit our bags, and the door needed someone to fiddle with it before it would lock or unlock. One of the most disappointing hostels we've stayed at, and nowhere near worth the price. Just a negative experience all around.

Clean place, friendly staff, and a fair price. It's very close to public transport, including the Santiago metro.

It's too expensive.

Some of the staff were kind and helpful, and for the first few days we ended up in a six-person room with four beds free. That was about the only upside. The hostel costs 8,000 Clp per night and takes cash only. Cleanliness was poor or nonexistent: bathroom bins weren't emptied regularly, toilet paper was sometimes missing, and the usable sinks and bathrooms were never cleaned. The first-floor showers were under maintenance and had barely been usable since I arrived. A bathroom near reception was opened for all the female guests, but it wasn't clean either. New guests could arrive at dawn while we were asleep. There weren't any comfortable common areas, and the kitchen closed to guests at 10:00 PM. Staff seemed free to ignore the rules they set for guests.
