Tremo Providencia Suite

The pool was unheated, dirty, and poorly placed. Nobody seemed to use it because the water was so cold, even in summer. I had a terrible stay with my wife, though we had hoped for a wonderful trip. I was on the third floor and there was no elevator. The intercom was broken too, so even asking a question meant going down the stairs. Breakfast wasn't ready at 7, and what we got was bad: one piece of bread and a few slices of fruit on a plate per guest. The room wasn't cleaned daily, and the bedding wasn't changed. The bathroom was never cleaned during our stay, there was dirt behind the door the whole time. The air conditioner was so noisy we couldn't sleep. There was no soap or shampoo, and after I complained, toiletries only arrived on the third day. The shower didn't get hot and barely had enough water. Holes in the bedroom door let corridor noise in, and we could hear sounds from neighboring rooms. I bought a bottle of wine but couldn't find anyone near the kitchen, and everything was closed. When I asked reception for two glasses, they said they had none to lend because the kitchen was closed and offered plastic cups instead. In a wine country, we couldn't even have wine in our hotel room. The staff always looked grumpy and made a lot of noise early in the morning. I've stayed in many hotels, and this one was awful.

One of the worst hotels I've ever stayed in. Everything felt off from check-in, when they gave me the wrong room. It had no bedding and was smelly and dirty, but the correct room wasn't much better. The smell of paint or chemicals was unbearable. My boyfriend and I could barely sleep, and woke up coughing and sneezing, with burning eyes and throats. The room was dusty and dirty, including the floor and bed, and the bathroom was dark and filthy. On the first use, we found a huge dead cockroach on the floor. There was no bath mat, so water soaked the floor, and a leak flooded the bathroom. Strange little bugs were in the water, maybe silverfish or little cockroaches, I don't know, and I didn't want to inspect the mess. The hotel was falling apart. Breakfast was poor, with no buffet, just a plate with few choices and not even scrambled eggs. A traumatic experience. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Don't trust the photos they post.

The location was the hotel's best feature: it felt safe and was close to what we needed for getting around and having fun. The service staff were always friendly and helpful. The rooms were odd, with nowhere to hang or store clothes, spiders, no natural light, and a door in the wall through which conversations from next door carried. The window faced the dining room, so people could see into my private space. The cook was often grumpy, though I can understand that if she's alone in the kitchen at awkward hours. The food was stale, and the kitchen utensils were dirty and posed an electrical shock risk. The pool was dirty, badly located, and looked more decorative than usable. It was scary to get in. If I return, it'll only be for the location.

The room had a musty smell and no window, but otherwise the stay was great and we'd definitely return, especially for the good value. We booked through Booking.com and had no problems. For a central location, the hotel was quite affordable and well placed. Our party of three had a room with a working air conditioner, hot water, and an extra bed. Breakfast was included, there was room service, and the service was excellent. The staff were incredibly friendly.
