I stayed in hostels for over four months of travel without switching, but left this one after two nights. I paid for four nights, then they put me in a building next door instead of the main building. The actual place looked completely different from the pictures on booking.com. The bathrooms and kitchen were very dirty. They say you’ll be fined for leaving dishes unwashed or not keeping things clean, which seems like a joke when the whole place is dirty from the start. There weren’t even towels for drying dishes. People yelled and screamed at night, and the place felt uncomfortable. I couldn’t sleep well. I can understand not getting a refund for the other two nights, but they didn’t even reply to my message. That was unfriendly. I’ve never had an experience like it.

The beds were uncomfortable and seemed unsafe. They were basic wooden frames stacked together, with a few precarious screws through some legs. There was no ladder to the top bunk, so you had to find a way to climb up, and the bottom bunk had only about eight inches of clearance when lying down, barely enough room for a side sleeper’s shoulders. The place was filthy, from the rooms to the bathrooms and common area. Lots of things were broken, including the shower with no hot water, a smashed window, and crumbling, unsafe stairs. Staff didn’t seem to care. When someone was actually at the desk, they were rude and unhelpful. Most of the time we came and went through the completely open, unlocked front door without seeing anyone or being asked if we were staying there. That didn’t make me feel safe. The chairs in the common areas were mostly broken, and they rented out the couches for people to sleep on, so don’t expect to use those spaces. This hostel is an absolute dump. I can’t say enough negative things about it.

I booked a private room at Wild’s Casa Baquedano because I’d stayed at the old, original Casa Baquedano before and it had been quite nice. I didn’t realize it had been bought out and changed so much. The room was run down, remote check-in was a mess, and it just didn’t feel safe. There was never any staff on site, especially at night. Everything is handled remotely, which wasn’t made clear when I booked. I wasn’t comfortable with that.

It’s cheap, but trust me, you don’t want to stay here. This is the worst hostel I’ve ever been in. When I went to check in, nobody was in the check-in area. You have to call, and they always say someone is on the way. The doors are unlocked, so anyone can walk in and sleep there without paying, haha. Honestly, it’s the worst place I’ve stayed. I even laughed that it exists.

The rooms are perfect, and the people at the entrance are really nice. It’s a very nice hostel. Just a little hard to get Pepsi late at night.
