Yogi Hostels

I booked two days ahead, then they canceled on me late at night at the last minute because I didn’t answer their text within 30 minutes. I was on a plane. Pretty ridiculous.

Everything was perfect: a safe area, clean and neat bedding, fast Wi-Fi, a spacious bathroom, and a shower booth. The staff were friendly too, including Numa, Florencia, and Benjamin. There’s even a cute cat there :)

I had to leave Yogi Hostels after the first night because the room had a visible, severe bedbug infestation. The conditions were unacceptable and a serious hygiene and health risk, so I left immediately, told both Yogi Hostels and Booking.com, and canceled the rest of my stay. Even so, I was charged the full €126.77 for three nights. Neither the hostel nor Booking.com has handled my refund request appropriately. Booking.com sent me back to the hostel instead of taking responsibility for the reservation. The lack of accountability from both is deeply disappointing and unprofessional. I can’t recommend this place, given both the unhygienic conditions and the poor handling of complaints. If something goes wrong, don’t expect fair treatment or proper support.

I’ve stayed in hundreds of hostels and own one myself in Costa Rica, so I have a good sense of value. For me, Yogi Hostels may be the best in Santiago: it does everything very well at a price that can’t be beaten against the competition. The staff are open, friendly, and accommodating, and the atmosphere among guests was very good and respectful. Nobody took my food from the fridge. The place is organized and clean, in a safe, peaceful neighborhood with a minimarket next door. I stayed in three different rooms, both private and dorm rooms, during my visit, and extended my stay more than once. They were clean and well furnished. Wi-Fi worked very well throughout, with download speeds up to 400mb/s downstairs, and the kitchen had everything needed.
