The location has a great view, and although it’s expensive, the price seems reasonable for this area. We found the staff friendly and helpful, despite the mixed reviews I’d read about them. Breakfast is basic but good. One morning we had to leave before the restaurant opened, and they still put breakfast out for us. There are some quirks to know about. Power is unreliable and goes out for a few hours at night, so that’s a problem if you need overnight electricity for something like a CPAP machine. There’s no wifi in the rooms, though we lucked out in room 21 because it was close enough to the dining area to get a signal, when there was power. Heating is only on for limited hours and shuts off around 2300 to midnight until early morning. Knowing that ahead of time, the stay is good. A fancier place would cost at least three times as much.

After all the hikes in Patagonia, this was a lovely place to relax. The room was very clean and comfortable, with unusual decor and great views from the windows. Breakfast was delicious, and everyone on staff was polite and helpful. One of the nicest places I’ve stayed in a while, a 10/10 stay.

We felt at home as soon as the friendly staff greeted us. Hostería Lago del Toro is a gem in Torres del Paine, with cozy rooms, exceptional service and gourmet meals. Huge windows in every room frame the lake and Patagonian peaks, and sunrise left us speechless. It’s a perfect base for exploring the park.

Our room was in a separate house, away from the main building and dining hall. On rainy nights, it was hard to find our way back because there was no light along the paved road between the buildings. Wifi didn’t reach the house. The room was quite dated, and the heating shut off after 11pm until the next morning. I woke up a few times because it was cold.

The staff were nice, and I think this is family-run. But the sheets were dirty, there was no hot water, and they turned off the heaters overnight, so you’ll freeze. Noise carried from people talking and walking upstairs. Better to sleep in the car than stay here. A complete disaster, and now I can see why it costs less than the other places nearby.
