The pool was warm and had a great view, and we loved the dinner choices on the à la carte menu. Staff were attentive and kind, spoke more English than average, and the breakfast had an exceptional range for a national park. There was also a lovely welcome dish with meat grilled outside in the evening in the summer(?). Our beds were great, the rooms cute and spacious, with blackout curtains, and we paid for a mountain view. One thing to plan for is the distance: it’s 1.5h from the entrance to the Torres del Paine base hike. Staying in the park doesn’t save time, since most tours start and end in Puerto Natales for 75USD. The hotel also offers tours for 145 USD, twice the price, but those include a lunch package and picnic. The showers beside the saunas get scorching hot even when the lever is halfway between hot and cold. You can easily get burned, and it takes a lot of fiddling to find a temperature that’s neither too hot nor too cold. The massage rooms are also beside the sauna and shower traffic, where people come and go and sometimes talk despite it being a quiet area. That’s too noisy for massages. And please train staff not to take bathrobes with room cards left on the beds when there’s nowhere else to hang or store them while guests are in the sauna. We had a wonderful stay overall and will be back.

I’m still amazed they built a hotel at this distance from any larger town and provide this level of service. The room was spacious, with a big window facing TdP, but its location near the restaurant, opposite the stairs and beside the water dispenser made it too noisy. The doors aren’t well insulated, so next time I’d ask for a different room. It was a bit annoying. The food was great in both restaurants, which seem to share a kitchen. Qawasqar dishes are just presented a bit more fancily, and prices are actually reasonable for the location. One standout at the start of our stay was the arepas with fire-roasted lamp and veggies-pineapple, one of the best things I’ve eaten in a while. Breakfast was fantastic too, though the coffee machine could be better. On the W trek we had Patagonia Blend, which was much better than Rio’s Lavazzas. The spa was great after the trek. All in all, a great two nights.

The staff were attentive, kind and incredibly helpful, and the food at all the restaurants was excellent. We loved the beautiful views, peaceful surroundings and how well cared for everything felt. I’d highly recommend it. One thing to keep in mind: large groups do check in, so it gets busy in peak season. That could matter if you don’t like hotels with big groups.

The free seafood happy hour was a delight, and the welcome drinks were a lovely way to end the evening. Dinner tasted good, the spa was really nice at night, and we enjoyed the chocolates in our room. Breakfast was huge, with lots of tasty food and drinks. Still, I came away a little disappointed because a friend who stayed a year earlier had described it as a “swanky hotel.” Some common areas did feel that way, but for the price the overall experience wasn’t as luxurious as I expected. Our bathroom was dated and the shower drain was clogged, which was gross the first time I turned it on. It wasn’t a huge deal, so I didn’t mention it, but I hadn’t expected that at such an expensive place. I was also surprised it sat in the middle of a village of other hotels. I’d pictured somewhere more secluded and grand. It was a good stay, but if I could do it again, I’d try another place to see whether Rio Serrano was really worth it.

The location is unbeatable, with amazing views, and the spa is a lovely place to relax after hiking in the park. We had a fantastic time on the horse riding excursion. The guide led beginners expertly, and we felt completely safe and supported. The horses were calm and friendly. I highly recommend the ride, and the staff were all great too.
