Hostal Color

We had the small hostel, just three rooms, all to ourselves. It was cozy and artsy, with a decent kitchen and bathroom, though nothing fancy. The owner was nice, but she only speaks spanish.

The location was good, as we'd hoped, but the stay went downhill from there. Even though we paid in USD and gave them copies of our passports and immigration cards, they charged us the IVA tax. When we tried to explain that we were exempt, the staff were rude and obnoxious. The "hostel" is a tiny apartment on the top floor, reached by a narrow staircase lined with rubbish bags and old discarded mattresses. There's no common room, and the kitchen is windowless and so cramped that even two people barely fit. It had almost no utensils, just one kitchen knife, and no hot water for washing dishes. There was one bathroom for four rooms, all meant for two or more people, so the morning queue could be long. No towels were provided, the rooms weren't cleaned during our three-night stay, and with no heating it was freezing in winter. There are plenty of other nice places nearby, so don't stay here.
