Breakfast was brought right to our room, and the rooms were spacious and clean. Miguel was a really lovely host, with helpful ideas for exploring the city. The hostel sits just outside the pricey tourist area but is still very close to it. We had a great stay and absolutely recommend it.

It’s an easy place to find, close to the bus terminal. Miguel got back to me right away and had great suggestions for sightseeing, food, and drinks. Thanks especially for the tip about the seal spot! His cat even joined me in bed, which was a fun bonus.

The kitchen could really use an update, and it felt too dark. Hopefully they’ll get to that soon. Otherwise, I liked the place a lot: it’s a cozy hostel, and the owner is kind and always willing to help. No real doubts about staying here apart from the kitchen.

Miguel really made sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. We had a wonderful time at Hostal del Gato, and I’d happily recommend it.

The manager, Miguel, made the biggest impression on us. He’s friendly, genuinely helpful, and gave us lots of advice about Valparaiso and Viña. The rooms were nice too, and the hostel is near the center and the best-known cerros.
