My favorite place in Chile so far. It’s calm and laid-back, and there’s a cozy restaurant connected to it. The dorms have plenty of single beds, not just bunks. Vicuña is so sweet. I’d also suggest spending a night in Pisco de Elqui and Cochiguaz. 🌌🌌🌌

The restaurant’s food and wine are easily the best I’ve seen in town, with attention to detail that’s hard to match. It’s attached to the hostel, which is connected to the back of the kitchen, and the restaurant, one of Chile’s oldest, has just been renovated. There are cheaper places to sleep, but I’d still strongly suggest this one. We’ve been traveling for nearly a month on our honeymoon, from southern Chile to Mendoza and around Colombia, and this was probably our most enjoyable place to stay and have dinner. If I could have afforded it, I would have served this establishment’s food at our wedding. The food we had there was spectacular. It also ticks a box on the old bucket list.

The location is great, but that’s about the only highlight. There was no hot water, the card machine was broken, and the room smelled of cat urine, with lots of cats around. Staff were often absent, though very helpful when they were there. I may have had other issues, but can’t recall them right now and might update this later. It’s okay for one night in Vicuña, which I highly recommend in general, but I wouldn’t stay longer.

Pepe and the staff were really friendly, and we loved the beautiful place. We spent three nights here. The location is ideal for visiting Vicuna, the room was clean and cozy, and both breakfast and the restaurant were really good. Antawara Hostel is worth considering if you’re staying in the area.

The outdoor area is lovely, with trees, plants, tables, comfy seats, and both sun and shade around the pool. The pool is even better with gorgeous pisco cocktails served beside it. Breakfast was excellent and had lots of variety. The beds were clean and comfortable, and the service felt hotel-like while the atmosphere stayed quiet, friendly, and relaxed. I didn’t eat at the bar, but it looks good. The cocktails are beautifully presented and taste divine.
