Aloe was hands down the best restaurant in Vicuña for us, especially as vegetarians. We struggled to find decent vegetarian choices in Vicuña and La Serena, but Aloe had several, and every one we tried was delicious. Breakfast was good too, though it would be great if the hotel offered cheese with the eggs for vegetarians instead of the ham other guests get. We spent three nights at Solar Madariaga during our 2.5 weeks travelling around Chile, and it was easily the best of the 8 hotels we stayed in. We could have happily stayed longer. It felt like a home away from home, with beautifully decorated rooms that were quiet and private, plus amazing high ceilings. Jonathan, the manager, clearly takes pride in the hotel and looked after us so attentively. The pool area was wonderfully peaceful. We often had it to ourselves in the mornings while other guests were out on excursions. An outstanding hotel, don’t book anywhere else if you’re visiting the Elqui Valley.

Right in the heart of Valle del Elqui, this hotel is absolutely gorgeous. The staff go out of their way to make sure you’re comfortable, and the service is outstanding. The on-site restaurant serves fresh, delicious food with the same lovely service.

The annex restaurant, Aloe, has amazing food and lovely cocktails. The hotel is a perfect base for a few nights in the Elqui Valley, with helpful staff and a lovely breakfast.

The restaurant is great too. If you’re in Vicūna or nearby, stay here. It was the best hotel in Chile on our trip.

I spent just under a week here earlier this year and had a wonderful stay. Solar Madariaga felt like home. The staff were friendly and helpful, and Diego the Manager was especially kind and knew all about Elki valley. The rooms were clean, the bed was very comfortable, and the food was fresh and tasty. The hotel grounds were clean and nicely decorated too. One night they held a full moon viewing with an astronomer, which was very cool. Thanks for a wonderful visit!
