The staff are cheerful, friendly, and ready to help. The hotel itself is simple, but comfortable and clean, and it has a well-equipped conference room. There’s a nice mall in town along with plenty of other shops. You can find international brands like Aldo, as well as local goods such as dark chocolate, coffee, soaps, neem oil, Karité butter, cacao powder, and pure bio species.

The rooms feel fresher and the hotel looks better after the renovation, which it really needed. This was my first check-in since the work was done. I’m still not sure about moving the restaurant nearer to the swimming pool, where people may want more privacy.

Hotel Sawa stands out among Douala’s older hotels, including Akwa Palace, Hotel Beausejour, and Aristar, thanks to its lovely lawn Tennis courts and swimming pool. The staff are welcoming, and the TV has English-language channels with working internet. The bathtub does need replacing, though.

We held a workshop there, and the team went out of their way to make it a success. The service was very good and everyone was super friendly. It’s a good hotel, though the facilities could use some renovation to bring them up to date.
