I came back from dinner and found that $400 had been taken from my backpack while I was out of the room. Thieves work here.

The staff were really pleasant, and the view is lovely. I stopped at the restaurant on my way to Kribi, traveling from Yaoundé or Douala, and it’s a convenient place to pause along the route. It’s kid friendly too. The food was only okay, though. The pizza could use less cheese, for example.

The balcony at the back looks out over Edea and the gently flowing River Sanaga. Hostellerie de la Sanaga sits at the edge of Edea, right by the river. It’s spacious, airy, very neat, and has landscaped grounds, with welcoming staff. The bedroom felt quite sophisticated and had an Airbox conditioner, a table and stool, a flat-screen TV, and a fridge. There’s also a sink, a bath with hot or cold running water, and a toilet. A very pleasant hotel for travelers and vacations.

You can hear cars going by on the nearby highway because the rooms don’t block the noise. Still, it’s a great place, and the rooms are well equipped.

You can see it was once a nice place, but it really needs renovating. The area needs more cleaning so you can enjoy nature without constantly having to deal with mites.
