Hotel des Deputes

I remember the breakfasts overlooking the lake fondly. I stayed here twice many years ago, and there was also a large sitting area on the main floor where I could meet with coworkers. Hotel des Deputes wasn’t luxurious, but my room was spacious and clean, and the staff were kind. If you’re looking for somewhere fancy, this isn’t it. For a clean room and kind service, though, look no further. I’d definitely stay again.

I’ve known this hotel for over 20 years, and I don’t think it has kept up its standards. The rooms seem neglected, and the hygiene in the bathroom and toilet is concerning.

The rooms are nice, but the mosquitoes are a nuisance. It’s next to a safe neighborhood with government offices. If you want to eat outside the hotel, the places with the best local food, like poisson braisé, and convenience stores such as supermarkets are a bit of a distance away.

The restaurant stood out during our two-week stay in 2013: the food was excellent, and the staff were friendly and helpful. We were there with my students, and we were glad we chose hotel des députés. It’s centrally located in Yaoundé, easy to reach, close to attractions and activities, and felt very safe. There’s plenty of space in the bedrooms, bar, restaurant and patios, plus a great view of the lake. The hotel was being renovated during our stay, and the room was very clean. I did notice missing parts on the bed frame and bathroom wires that weren’t properly connected or concealed. I’d recommend it to anyone looking for a decent, safe, lower-budget place in Yaoundé.
