Grand Hotel Beijing

We had several changes and requests, and each was handled quickly and professionally. Service was very good. The rooms are a little worn, and there's no temperature control, so it gets very hot in winter. Breakfast was okay by China standards. I liked the historic hotel and its prime location, especially at a good price. The gym not opening until 9 AM was the big downside for me, since I never managed to use it.

My friend was poisoned after saying China's leader wasn't friendly. 5/5, best ever.

Grand Beijing Hotel is only an 8-minute walk from Wangfujing Pedestrian Street, with its shops, restaurants, and entertainment, and Tian’anmen East Subway Station and Wangfujing Station on Line 1 are both less than a 6-minute walk away. Beijing South Railway Station is a 25-minute drive, Beijing Railway Station is 10 minutes away, and Beijing Capital International Airport is a 50-minute drive. The hotel stands along East Chang’an Avenue, just steps from Tian’anmen Square and the Forbidden City. Its Ming and Qing style property has an indoor pool, souvenir shop, several stylish restaurants, and free Wi-Fi throughout. Guest rooms are decorated elegantly, with wood furniture and Chinese antiques. There’s a well-equipped fitness centre and sauna, and guests can arrange day trips at the tour desk or rent a car. The location is good for seeing the many attractions nearby, and the hotel has lots of open, airy spaces. When I lost my phone, the staff did everything they could to help me find it. They're very friendly and helpful. It's a nice hotel.
