Peking Station Hostel

Getting there can be a bit tricky, especially when there's a language barrier with your driver. The hostel sits inside a secured residential area, along very narrow streets and alleys. Once you arrive, though, it's convenient: several subway stations are about a 5-10 minute walk away, with malls and lots of places to eat nearby. Taxi and Didi pickups or drop-offs are usually on the main road because cars can't always make it through the smaller streets. The property has a lovely indoor-outdoor feel in its common areas, and the family hosts were super kind. They even helped me set up a few local apps to make getting around easier. I really liked the tea they provided, though there was no breakfast. The area felt very safe, and the staff were friendly. I had a comfortable private room with a huge, cozy bed, although it took up most of the space and left barely enough floor area to open my suitcase. I could control the AC, the window opened and closed properly and had a screen, and the blackout curtains were nice and thick. They provided plenty of bottled water, the WiFi worked well, and the shower had great pressure. Towels were replaced often, and shower flip-flops were provided too. This is more of a quiet guesthouse or boutique stay than a social hostel. I didn't really see other foreigners, and the language barrier made it hard to meet people or make friends. For a calm, comfortable stay, especially as a solo traveler, it worked really well. Just don't expect a social atmosphere.
