Sofitel Beijing Central

David Zhu at the front desk was great and helped arrange tours, and Katy Zhang kept us refreshed in the executive club. The room was roomy, the bed felt great after all our walking, and the hotel is well located. We really enjoyed our recent stay at Sofitel Beijing central.

Getting around was easy: the subway is close, and reaching the airport takes only two transfers. Shops, convenience stores, fast food behind the building, and supermarkets about 1km away are all nearby. The robot deliveries to the room were quick and handy, and the front desk helped me set up Meituan. Nearly everyone I spoke with in the lobby area could speak English. The room itself was a little worn, though Fairmont was oldish too. Between Fairmont and sofitel, each has pros and cons, but I preferred Fairmont. Sofitel's dark, blackish decor felt gloomy and unwelcoming to me, and I think it affects people's mood. There were lots of people hanging around the lobby sofas and seats, perhaps after checking out or waiting to check in. My room's AC was quite loud, so I left it off most of the time. The bed was very soft and comfortable, and I slept well. One night the staff also gave me a small fruit platter as a gift.

The crispy duck was a highlight of my stay at Sofitel Beijing Central Hotel from January 24th to 26th, 2026. It had crisp skin and tender meat, with sauces and sides that went beautifully with it. A real culinary standout. Wendy Cao hosted my dining experience and made me feel welcome and valued with her warm service, careful attention, and helpful recommendations. She was enthusiastic about the hotel's food, too. The hotel has elegant decor and a sophisticated feel, while the rooms are spacious and comfortable, a peaceful place to return to after exploring Beijing. Its location also makes getting to attractions easy. The service was exceptional, the food options exquisite, and the accommodation luxurious. I had a fantastic, unforgettable stay and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Beijing. I look forward to coming back.

The worn condition was obvious, with faux leather panels peeling and the bed head panels broken and worn. The hot water was also a serious problem. On the first night it came and went; on the third, when it was barely 8 degrees outside, there was almost none. After I called, a technician came and said the boiler didn't have enough water and a new batch needed about 20 minutes to heat. Half an hour later it was still icy cold, with no follow-up. I called again and was transferred to the hotel manager, who said they were fully booked and that's why there wasn't enough hot water. He estimated another 10 minutes, making it about 30 minutes in total. It was nearly midnight, and we'd had the problem since 10pm. Nobody took action or responded; the call only came after midnight, and even with the hot water turned all the way up, it was only lukewarm. One of the worst experiences I've had at a 5-star hotel.
