The breakfast was the best part for us. It was free, all Chinese-style, and we loved it. The location was handy too, near the pearl market, Red Theatre, Temple of Heaven, and a metro line. The rest was a mess. Check-in and checkout were slow and involved several people, the layout was confusing, and there were unmarked slopes in the hallways. My husband tripped on one. The elevator was painfully slow. Our large, oddly arranged room had no privacy because the bathroom, including the toilet, was completely open to it. We've been married nine years, and I still want privacy in the bathroom. There was a leak beneath the sink into the carpet, with no way to get at it, and the lighting was awful. It also didn't seem soundproof. I could hear people in the halls and outside. Three nights in a row, we dragged ourselves back after a long day exploring, reached our room, and found the key wouldn't work. The front desk acted as if this happened all the time and wasn't a big deal. We also saw several employees at the desk who wouldn't answer the phone or help guests. We're not fussy, but this place was bad in a lot of ways. I wouldn't stay here again, which I don't say often.

The bathroom had no door, and the shower had no curtain. The bathtub was cracked in several places, and the vanity doors were broken. The hotel was in very poor shape, worse than a motel, and after office hours nobody spoke English.
