Zhong Tian

We stayed three nights and ran into problems every night, so we barely got proper rest. The hotel seems to put much more into its appearance than into service, staff, or equipment. I’d avoid it. On the first night, an older woman kept ringing the door of the room next to ours from 3am for at least an hour, speaking loudly in Chinese. We could hear it all and couldn’t sleep. The next night, a mother and several children in the adjoining room played very loud music until 1am, while the kids jumped around and cried. We asked them politely to stop, but they didn’t, so we called hotel service twice before it was dealt with. The third night was another mess. At 1am, the exit light by our room started beeping loudly about once a minute. It took two calls, 20 minutes apart, before someone came to stop it. Just as things finally quieted down and we were about to sleep, the room phone rang loudly so staff could ask if the problem was fixed. Then at 2:30am, employees started doing very loud work at the nearby building site. For a place that presents itself as high end, none of the welcome staff spoke English. The bathroom’s hot and cold taps were reversed, and it wasn’t possible to have the room cleaned in the afternoon. The smart room lighting was frustrating too. You can’t turn all the lights off, so there are always lots of lights shining at night. Choosing Sleeping mode on one side of the room actually turns on the button lights on the other side, which you then have to go and switch off in the dark. On top of that, wardrobe sensors seemed buggy and sometimes turned the lights on by themselves.
