The beds were comfortable, and the hostel was clean, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to stay here unless you’re Chinese or speak Chinese. It didn’t feel welcoming or helpful for foreign guests. No staff spoke English, and there were no city guides or travel tips. Lots of younger locals seemed to come in for overnight stays. There’s a cafe attached with craft beer, wine, and cocktails, but its hours weren’t posted and it closed early, around 6 pm. Despite that, this isn’t a social hostel. People kept to themselves, and nobody was drinking at the cafe. Breakfast wasn’t good either. There were no luggage lockers in the room. I saw one closet by the entrance, and it stayed open the whole time I was there. If you’re stuck in Dalian, it’ll do for a night.

I wasn’t keen on the place, even though the blog reviews tend to be positive. It’s clean and modern, but has a prison-like feel. Construction all around meant sawdust in the air and a pile of rubbish right outside, which smelled bad. There weren’t many good places to eat nearby, and the main tourist sights were far away. Taxis are very cheap, though. Next time, I think I’ll stay near Jeungsan Square.
