Hilton Garden Inn Dandong

There's a mall right downstairs, and the famous broken bridge over the Yalu River on the DPRK border is an easy walk away. A good spot if you're in Dandong for a night or two.

The river view from my room looking toward DPRK was stunning. The room was clean and fairly spacious, though the safe was broken beyond repair. Breakfast was nice, but morning sun glare filled the whole seating area. It's an upscale Western hotel about a five minute walk from the train station, with a mall downstairs and the main Dandong sights not far away. I'd recommend it to Western visitors exploring the city.

The location worked perfectly for us, around 5-10 minutes on foot from the boardwalk, and the beds were incredibly comfortable. The place is bright, clean, and modern, with everything you'd want and good prices. The staff were wonderful too. This is our ideal Dandong hotel, and the only one we'd stay at.

I stayed in Executive rooms 1910 and 2010, both huge, with a great view over DPR Korea and amazingly comfortable beds. Water pressure was good, WiFi was free and fast, and the TV had some international channels. With a VPN I could use Google services and upload a few GB of photos and videos from my short DPRK trip easily. The Hilton is just a block south of the train station. There's a Starbucks at the base of the building, where I had breakfast and drank coffee. The Hilton has a big food menu and a spectacular, cheap buffet, though it's really aimed at locals. Don't expect the usual Hilton Club Sandwich. For a trip into DPRK, I can't think of a better place to begin and end your stay. The value is crazy, so cheap. Probably the cheapest Hilton I've stayed at.
