The gardens, pool, and attentive staff all made the stay feel special. I also enjoyed the local food at the in-house restaurant, and the amenities felt thoughtfully put together. The Goodview Hotel Sangem Zhangmutou is lovely to look at, with peaceful surroundings that offered a welcome break from the busy city. My room was roomy and elegantly decorated, with beautiful views of the nearby landscape. The hotel combines traditional Chinese elegance with modern comforts, and my time there added a memorable, immersive part to my trip through China.

I only came for lunch at the Chinese restaurant (dim sum), which had a reasonable range of dishes. It wasn't bad for bringing the family. The hotel itself is a little dated, but still in decent shape, with a touch of extravagance. It's nicely set up on a hill, and the children's pool with slides was a nice touch.

The hotel is close to our factory, which is why I stay here for work. It's reasonably comfortable for sleeping, but I wouldn't recommend it, and I'd rather put up with a longer commute for better accommodations. It feels like it used to be quite nice, though now it's fallen into some disrepair. Rooms vary a lot. Some air conditioners don't work, and some bathtubs are stained. A coworker's hairdryer actually caught fire when they used it. Front desk staff speak passable English, and you should ask for a soft bed if you don't want the firm Asian-style mattress. The downstairs Western restaurant buffet has dishes that may be inedible, with hilariously translated names. Food is better at the upstairs Chinese restaurant, but ordering is easier if you have a Chinese speaker with you.

The non-smoking and hardwood-floor rooms were all booked, and the room smelled of cigarettes. Keeping the air conditioning on helped with the stench. Apart from that, it was clean and comfortable, and probably the best choice nearby.
