Sen Mei Hotel

Street-facing rooms are a bad choice for light sleepers. The road outside has constant horn honking, and a traffic camera flashes its strobe day and night. Parking out front or behind is easy, though spaces can run out some evenings. There’s a tiny convenience store behind the hotel with odd hours, and an independent foot massage place and simple spa on the first and second floors. Plenty of places to eat are within a couple of blocks, an easy walk, but watch out for aggressive and drunk drivers. The Bank of China ATM next door has always worked with my US cards. Inside, the laminate floors make the rooms feel clean and welcoming. Showers are large with good hot water, and the toilets are clean, though you may get just one roll of mediocre toilet paper. Free WiFi works throughout the building, but even with the same SSID, I sometimes had to power cycle to get a connection going. The Ethernet port is unpredictable, sometimes very fast throughout, usually nothing, and keeping a VPN connection open is a challenge. It’s a clean, quiet business hotel at a fair price. Staff don’t speak English, but they’re polite and helpful. Check-in and checkout are quick, and US credit cards are readily accepted. Other guests may push ahead at the counter or smoke nasty smelling cigarettes while waiting in the lobby.
