The view over old Xinan was lovely, and the rooms were comfortable at affordable rates. It’s centrally located in Xinan with easy access, and there’s inexpensive, good local food nearby, plus a Starbucks on the ground floor. The problem is that they turn off the central air conditioning when the weather gets cold.

I came to visit my hometown, Sanshui, and picked this centrally located hotel. Getting around was convenient, the rooms were clean and tidy, and 300 yuan per night seemed reasonable. I’d read online that the top-floor restaurant was revolving, so I was excited to try it. It doesn’t actually rotate, but the meal still turned out to be a nice surprise. From the 24th floor, you get a panoramic view of the city, and the food was surprisingly good despite the mixed menu of Cantonese dim sum, hot pot, and sushi. There’s also a decent restaurant on the second floor. The two restaurants cost about the same, so I preferred eating upstairs and taking in the view.

The pool seemed to stay closed throughout my four-week stay. The location was good and the hotel was comfortable, but as a non-smoker, I’d recommend specifying that when you book. Even so, every floor smelled of tobacco, which I’ve grown unused to and found extremely unpleasant.
