Rosewood Residence Guangzhou

The breakfast queue on our last day was so long that we couldn't be seated before heading to the airport, so we had to skip it. Maybe we could have booked, but if this happens often, guests should be warned. I've never had a seating problem at other five-star hotels. Room cleaning was extremely erratic. There was no body lotion on day one, the amenity kit was missing on day two, and we only realized on our last day, day four, that hand towels were meant to be on the tray. Hair from blow-drying was still on the surfaces, and housekeeping didn't put the in-room dining menu back properly. Our dirty clothes were left in a laundry bag on the floor by my luggage. The whole bag was taken for laundry without notice, even though we hadn't filled in a laundry sheet. I had to ask the front desk where it went, and thankfully it turned up again. The doormen never opened the doors of our transportation during the stay. I saw them standing around chatting instead. This was my first and last stay at a Rosewood hotel. I was excited to try it, but the service fell short in too many areas. For a five-star hotel, all of this is completely unacceptable and has put me off the chain.

We were in GZ for a week, spent most of it at Rosewood, and the last two nights at the lovely Conrad. Rosewood is such an amazing hotel that I feel spoiled and don't think I'll be able to stay anywhere else. The facilities made it easy to spend a couple of days without leaving. The pool on the 94th floor is spectacular, overlooking the city. The huge, well-equipped gym was great too. On my birthday I took a private Pilates reformer class with a view of Canton Tower, and Suki kicked my a$$. It was perfect. The spa amenities are the best as well: the women's locker room has a cold plunge, salt room, steam room, and another jacuzzi. The showers and dressing areas were lovely, with fresh infused water, lots of lounge space, and great views. The rooms are spacious and laid out very well, with an amazing bathroom. They left fresh fruit each night, and the turndown service was great. Breakfast had an incredible spread and views, the best I've had at a hotel, even compared with the beautiful breakfasts I've had in Europe. Every employee says hello and makes sure you're taken care of, which some might find overwhelming, but everyone was very friendly and helpful. Peter, the guest relations manager, gave great recommendations. Butterfly Tea lounge is gorgeous for afternoon tea, and the veranda by the lobby was a perfect sunny spot to get some work done with a view. Black Iron, I think that's the name, upstairs was great for a cocktail. Lingnan House, a Michelin restaurant in the same building, wasn't a good experience for us, but I keep that separate from the hotel. The central location is convenient for the financial district. It's connected to the K11 mall, across the pathway from the Mall of the World, and close to the subway. I can't recommend this hotel enough.

The staff really made this hotel for me. They were excellent and always close by when I needed help, especially the gentleman handling reception late at night and early in the morning. He was so helpful. The rooms feel modern and luxurious, with smart, up-to-date bathrooms, and the Technogym equipment in the gym is great. The views from the rooms and the 95th-floor breakfast area are amazing. Best hotel I’ve ever stayed in, a real 7-star experience.

On 18/11/2025, I found a recording camera hidden above the metal décor in my room and pointed straight at the bed. I took photos and videos to document it. That’s a serious privacy breach, and it should never happen in a hotel, especially one presenting itself as luxury. They moved me to another room after I reported it, but nobody from security or senior management came to speak with me. I went the whole day without an apology or proper follow-up. I emailed a formal complaint to the address on the official website at 9:15 AM and never got a reply. The way it was handled felt extremely unprofessional, like they were trying to downplay what happened instead of taking it seriously. It completely destroyed my trust in the property, and I won’t be back. I expect senior leadership to take full responsibility.
