Sofitel Guangzhou Sunrich

It's been about a month since my stay, and I still remember the warm hospitality and hardworking reception staff. Tracy and a tall male staff member whose name I didn't get helped me with a defective item I'd ordered from Taobao, making it possible to return it to the sender. On another occasion, the same tall staff member pointed me to a more respectable massage centre when I had limited options from my own search. I didn't get to thank them in person before leaving, so I want to pass on my heartfelt thanks. Their helpful attitude and hospitality made the stay memorable.

The room itself was an ordinary hotel room, with Wi-Fi that kept dropping out, rusty shower hinges, and broken seals that let shower water cover the toilet floor. My view looked out over the hotel's sewage area. The pools were closed during my visit. Check-in staff seemed clueless, and service felt nonexistent throughout. I'm an Accor Platinum guest, but LJ at Club Millesime told me that nobody in China cares about Platinum status and treats everyone the same. I was told upgrades depended on availability, and there were plenty of rooms, but the 'Big Boss' had decided there would be no upgrade that day. LJ then tried to sell me the higher category room, saying the 'bigg boss' had said no upgrade today. LJ was a Club Millesime supervisor, which made me wonder what the rest of the staff were like. This 'French' chain was disappointing on many levels. The hotel already had low Google ratings, but I took a chance anyway. It felt like a hectic Chinatown restaurant, and the staff seemed untrained and unqualified. If you've worked to build status with a hotel, this place doesn't seem to recognize it. There are plenty of other hotels in this beautiful city that treat guests with respect. I'd avoid this one even if it were free.

The concierge team made getting around Guangzhou easy, helping with directions, travel plans, and local suggestions. They were knowledgeable, responsive, and professional every time I spoke with them. Service throughout the hotel was courteous and attentive, and requests were handled promptly. It felt sincere, not scripted. At check-in, Maison at the front desk welcomed me warmly and made the process effortless with his efficiency, professionalism, and attention to detail. He's a real asset to Sofitel Guangzhou Sunrich. I had a wonderful stay that exceeded my expectations, and would gladly return and recommend the hotel. My sincere thanks to Maison, the concierge team, and all the staff for such a comfortable and hospitable experience.

The room felt like a clean, spacious modern retreat, with a marble bathroom and deep soaking tub. The hotel also has a great spot in Tianhe, connected to Grandview Mall and close to the metro. Staff were courteous, professional, and genuinely helpful. I loved the international breakfast buffet, and dinner was very well done. Sofitel Guangzhou Sunrich brings French elegance into the lively heart of Guangzhou. Whether you're there for work or leisure, I found it a spectacular five star stay and can't recommend it highly enough.
