The bed, blanket, and pillow were all in good shape, and the air conditioning worked well. Water pressure, hot water, and drainage were all fine too. They provided two large towels, two small ones, and a foot towel. The biggest hassle was the Wi-Fi. You needed a local Chinese phone number to use it, but I only had a SIM without a local number. I asked the first-floor front desk, and a staff member came to my room to authenticate it. You also need to install a VPN separately to use the Wi-Fi. The room had no cigarette smell, though it felt a little dated. The lobby was spacious. Staff didn't speak English, so I used Papago at check-in. There was no deposit, and the two elevators required scanning your room key and pressing your floor button. I was satisfied with my two-night stay in Hangzhou. West Lake is about a 20-minute walk away. There's a Lawson across the street and plenty of restaurants nearby. The bus stop for Lingyin Temple is around 10 minutes on foot, and the subway station for Hangzhou Airport is about 15 minutes away on foot.
