The Hotel V Hefei Yaohai

The smoking room smell was awful and really stuck around. Even if you smoke, I’d ask for a non-smoking room. I’m not sure what they do to remove the odor, but the hotel needs to take that problem seriously. Breakfast was decent by Chinese hotel standards, and I enjoy Chinese food, so it worked for me. I think Korean guests would be fine with it too. The dining area layout was awkward, though: a star-shaped barrier blocks off the back, which makes it hard to spot the people you came with. The facilities are decent for a five-star hotel. Many rooms have desk outlets with UPS power, and there’s one Korean TV channel, which was a welcome surprise. A couple of practical things could be better. There are no baskets in the shower room for used towels, and the little containers for shampoo and other products kept tipping over and spilling on the floor. The luggage table is also small, so suitcases over 20 inches are awkward to set down.
