Auberge Discovery Bay Hong Kong

We loved being able to relax, feel the sea breeze, and enjoy the beautiful view at Auberge Discovery Bay. I fell in love with the place. The staff were professional, friendly, easy to talk to, and always willing to help. We also enjoyed the refreshing, delicious dishes at the lobby café. The free shuttle to Disneyland made things especially convenient. Discovery Bay North Plaza is just a few meters away, with more restaurants and a marketplace, and D’Deck is there if you want to unwind.

I spent almost three months at Discovery Bay, and much of the stay was very enjoyable. The hotel is clean and thoughtfully designed, with a clear effort to create a distinct brand. Its seaside setting in Discovery Bay is extraordinary, close to Disneyland and the airport. The northern area is beautiful, recently built, and well planned, with a pleasant look, a safe feel, and nearby grocery stores and restaurants. The place has a real island resort atmosphere that feels like a holiday. My room was spacious with a beautiful view, and there’s a lovely rooftop pool and a well-equipped gym facing the sea. The breakfast team was excellent and offered a comprehensive selection. Housekeeping was great too, even cleaning when I left my room after 3 PM, which I appreciated. For long stays, the free laundry service was convenient and good quality. There was often an unpleasant toilet smell after housekeeping, though, possibly because the same cloth was used on the floor. The shuttle service made it easy to get to Hong Kong, Disneyland, and Sunny Bay, especially for day trips to Disneyland. The lady and blond-haired driver were particularly friendly and professional. Some of the other hotel staff could be unpleasant, not smiling or even saying hello or goodbye. There’s a small beach nearby, but it’s damaged and littered, and there isn’t a proper beach beside the hotel. Disneyland is close but not within walking distance, which is a shame and could easily be improved. The shuttle timetable was inconvenient too: departures for Disneyland were only in the morning, and the evening return often came before the show ended. The main problem was cigarette smoke. Around 7 AM each morning, cigarette odor filled my room through the air conditioning. There are no windows to open, so I couldn’t air it out. I reported it several times, but nothing changed. They offered to move me, but other floors smelled even worse. The smoke seemed to come from guests and staff. I personally saw employees smoking on the second floor. That’s a significant issue for a family hotel with children. The smell disrupted my sleep. I woke several times during the night, sometimes as early as 5 AM, and the odor was so strong it caused nightmares. Even floors without smoke sometimes got it through the air conditioning. It greatly affected my stay and was the main negative.

A peaceful place away from the city rush, well suited to families and leisure travelers. The hotel has roomy, sea-facing rooms and an enjoyable dining selection, including excellent Hong Kong-style tea. The shuttle to Disneyland starts around 10 AM and makes the trip easy if you book ahead. This calm, comfortable option in Hong Kong could work well for travelers heading to Disneyland soon after landing at the airport.

My ocean-view room was worth every penny, with a huge bathtub, waterfall shower head, king bed, and a very spacious lounge area with a large sofa. Auberge Hotel is one of my favorite places in Hong Kong, and I’m definitely going back. It’s a retreat away from the bustle, good for relaxing and resetting. The location is far from everything else, so it’s really for people looking for an escape. There are convenience stores and plenty of restaurants close to the hotel for whatever you need.
