Tea and cookies are always available at reception, and the rooms have what you need for a comfortable stay despite being small. The place is super clean and the staff are friendly. I've stayed at Bishop Lei twice and would definitely come back.

Mandy at the front desk was so kind. After my 16-hour flight, I landed early in the morning and she helped get me a room as soon as possible. I waited in the lobby and saw her call housekeeping right after another guest checked out, so they could clean a room for me. She made the stay wonderful. The room was small, but it had everything I needed as a solo traveler, and the bed was comfortable. Getting around the Mid-Levels can take some effort. Walking to Central Station takes at least 15-20 minutes, and the escalator direction changes depending on the time of day. There’s also a bus stop right outside, which was helpful for getting to Causeway Bay or Wanchai.

The location is good for the price, with Soho and Central within walking distance. The return uphill is a bit of a schlep, though, so take a bus or the shuttle if you don't fancy it. There's a convenience store nearby, and the complimentary shuttle loops between the hotel, Hong Kong station, Far East Finance Centre, and the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibitions Centre. It runs nearly every hour, but the times aren't regular, so pick up a timetable at reception. A physical Octopus card is useful for buses and the MTR. Single-journey MTR tickets can be bought with cash only. All the staff, from check-in to the concierge, housekeeping, and restaurant, were fantastic. My deluxe room on the 19th floor was clean and comfortable, and I slept well on the mattress. There was a pleasant desk by the window overlooking the city, a wardrobe with shelves, and a small safe that wouldn't fit a laptop. The unit beside it had an empty mini-fridge, a kettle, and coffee, tea, creamer, sugar, cups, and glasses. There's no bottled water in the room because of Hong Kong regulations, but a dispenser is by the lift. The air conditioning worked well without too much noise, and the in-room Wi-Fi was strong. The TV had the channels shown in one of my pictures. The bathroom was clean and usable, though a little dated and tight to move around in. Watch your elbows on the walls. The listing said there were no toiletries, but my room had hand wash, body wash, and shampoo. The shower had both a fixed and handheld head, warm water, and decent pressure. My room was opposite the lift, which was the biggest downside. People waiting there sometimes chatted loudly for a while, and even one couple could wake me at night or early in the morning. I was also disappointed that the pool, which was why I'd chosen the hotel, had been closed for annual maintenance since December 1, 2025, and was still shut in mid-January. I didn't see any mention of this in the listing, unless I missed it. There was only a note on the desk in my room. There's a small gym with a couple of treadmills, a step machine, a bike, and a rowing machine. Sometimes they look switched off, but moving them brings the screens on. I had a quick dinner at the restaurant-cafe once. The staff were friendly enough, but the green curry had gristly chicken, so I wouldn't eat there again. As a reasonably priced mid-level hotel, Bishop Lei Int'l House hits the spot for me, and I'd stay again.

The location works really well for mid-level dining and nightlife, with the midlevel elevators and stairs just a few minutes away. The city view is spectacular if you get a south-facing room. Though the hotel is older, the rooms are kept immaculately clean and refreshed, with updated carpets, wallpaper, and other work done in the rooms.

We had a great view, clean rooms, and a beautiful neighborhood. The staff were excellent and very helpful, and the hotel is very close to the Peak Tram, which is why we picked it. We got off the A11 bus at the wrong stop and had to walk up the hill. If it's your first time in Hong Kong, Uber seems to work well. We had a bit of trouble with taxis.
