The price was the one consolation. I was only in Hong Kong in transit, to take care of some matters and see an old friend, and stayed one night before heading to the mainland on an early train. I got up early and went out to McDonald's for something hot, then returned to pack. I arrived around midmorning. The double bed took up nearly the whole room, which had an attached toilet and wash area; otherwise, I would've had to use a shared facility. Getting to the room was confusing because each lift serves certain floors. If you take the other lift, you have to use the stairs to reach your unit.

Getting to reception on the 8th floor from the rooms on the 6th is a hassle when checking out. The small elevator doesn't stop at every floor on the way up, so you have to go down to the ground floor first, then take it up to the 8th. It only stops at each floor when going down, and the cramped lift makes the trip even harder if you're in a hurry. The room was very small, especially the toilet.

The room was right beside what they call a lobby, so I could hear everyone checking in. It smelled damp and stale, with stains on the walls and mould in the bathroom. I expected a small room, but not a filthy crack house. By far the shittiest hotel I've stayed in.

The location was perfect and the room was okay, though very small. Soundproofing was poor. When it rained, drops hitting the window and air conditioner were so loud I couldn't sleep, and I had to buy special earplugs.

For a very cheap price, you get everything you need for a short stay, and this is my favourite in HK. It's right in the centre of Tim Sha Tsui, three minutes from the metro and close to bars and restaurants that stay open late. Best hotel in Hong Kong.
