I stayed at Hong Kong Ocean Park Marriott Hotel from 1 to 6 June 2025 and had a very good visit. The suite upgrade was a nice bonus, and the larger-than-usual rooms in Hong Kong made the longer stay more comfortable. Breakfast had a good range of choices, and I appreciated that the hotel is pet friendly. People say it’s far from the city, but I found it easy to get around. Ocean Park MTR Station on the South Island Line is a five-minute walk, and Central and other key areas are usually within 30 minutes. The team handled requests efficiently, though at times the service felt a little indifferent for a hotel of this standard. When my daughter couldn’t finish her club sandwich, I asked if we could take it away. They gave me a box and asked me to pack it myself, which surprised me for a Marriott. That was a small blemish on an otherwise pleasant stay. It’s a comfortable option with larger rooms and easy MTR access.

Breakfast and the pool can get overcrowded at busy times and during peak season. Much of the food seems pre-made or stale, and it doesn’t taste fresh. At Room Service and Pier Lounge, Asian dishes felt more authentic than the Western food, which didn’t match the premium prices. One burger we ordered had hard bread and overcooked beef. The noise from my neighbors has also become a daily burden. They leave their door open all the time, even overnight, so their chatter and baby screaming carry into the hallway and my room. I’ve had to report it to housekeeping every day. The Housekeeping Manager comes to shut the door, but the guests open it again as soon as the manager leaves. The hotel seems to have no routine or security measures to keep noise down. A premium hotel shouldn’t leave guests to handle floor management themselves. When I raised the problem with the Sales Manager, he assumed I was just complaining about a baby and ignored the open door. He said the guests were “very nice people.” Does that mean they can disregard basic etiquette and disturb others at 3:00 AM? I’ve been a loyal guest for seven months. Am I suddenly “not nice” for expecting the privacy and quiet I pay for? If professional service and a quiet stay matter to you, I’d look elsewhere.

For a two-night business trip, this was a comfortable base with convenient access to Ocean Park and the MTR. My top-floor room in the Marina Wing was clean and had a nice mountain view. Being next to the Ocean Park entrance meant a little music and noise, but nothing too disruptive. The amenities were quite limited, with only bottled drinks included. The staff were friendly and accommodating, and check-in was quick with pre-check-in through the Marriott app.

Alvin at the front desk was excellent, and the Marina Kitchen breakfast team was friendly. Those were bright spots in an otherwise deeply disappointing stay at Hong Kong Ocean Park Marriott on March 19-20, 2026. There was rust on the bathroom sliding door frame and handle, plus visible stains and marks on the marble below the TV, as if a hot cup or pot had sat there for a long time. These looked like maintenance and cleaning had been overlooked. At breakfast, food stopped being replenished before service ended at 11:00. By 10:40 several items were empty, while chefs nearby were chatting. I also had a confirmed late checkout at 13:00, noted on my registration card, and a Do Not Disturb sign on the door. Still, housekeeping knocked at 12:42, and I had to answer in my underwear. That should not happen under those circumstances. The response to my feedback was the most disappointing part. Assistant Guest Service Manager Nancy Law first sent a generic template that looked nearly identical to one I’d received after a previous stay. After I pointed that out, the next reply was a little more personal but treated the problems as a matter of my “expectations,” rather than the hotel’s standards. Saying they’d schedule a deep cleaning to meet and exceed those expectations made basic maintenance sound like a special favor. I asked whether the rust and stains had been missed or ignored. Guest Service Manager Austen So never answered. I asked to be invited to complete a post-stay survey so I could publish my feedback, and was told the hotel “cannot control its delivery.” That felt like an attempt to suppress honest feedback instead of addressing it. A hotel at this level shouldn’t have rust, stained marble, or a housekeeping disturbance during a confirmed late checkout. What bothered me most was the refusal to take responsibility. I’ll let other travelers decide whether asking for a clean room and a properly handled late checkout is too much.

The room was a decent size, and the aquarium by the lift lobby was impressive, though I didn’t see many fish. The breakfast spread was reasonable, with a Japanese section that was mostly noodles and soup. I’d been hoping for sushi, but the pancake machine made small, fresh, fluffy pancakes. The room itself was okay, though the sofa already had patches. The rain shower felt weak, and I later noticed the water came out of alternate jets. The pools were closed for winter maintenance, and staff said there was no sauna or steam room. I had some good and bad moments at Marriott Ocean Park. The location next to Ocean Park and the MTR is convenient, but evening trains can be so crowded that staff stop people from reaching the platform to clear the crowd. Even after getting through, I waited for two or three trains before boarding. The two-wing hotel is also confusing to navigate. I checked in at 10am, before my room was ready. As a Bonvoy member, I asked if I could work in the lounge, but was told it was closed. Another staff member explained it was paid access, except for guests who booked suites. I was directed to find an empty sofa on a lower floor and work there until around noon. They offered an upgrade to a room with a tub ready after 2pm, but I don’t use a tub, so I chose the room without one that was ready at noon. After working there a bit, I went out for lunch. There were hits and misses, but I’d probably choose somewhere more central next time.
