This used to be the Hong Kong maritime police office. The place is quite complicated to navigate, but interesting. The staff were kind and the service met my expectations. Breakfast served in the room was especially good, and we could choose fried egg or omelet.

Hullett House has a nostalgic feel and is a photogenic spot, inside and out. It seems well suited to newlyweds or couples marking an anniversary, and it’s popular for hosting major life events. The staff, though, were somewhat below average, so I wouldn’t expect too much from the service.

Each room has a Hong Kong place name instead of a number, like silvermine suite, and the themes vary from royal classical and Chinese to modern and fashion. The room designs fit surprisingly well with the old wooden floors, which creak with an “it it it” sound as you walk along the corridors. The building is being rebuilt from the pre-marine police headquarters, and you can feel both the new and old styles in its facilities.

The breakfast veranda was a great escape from the city without actually leaving it. The hotel itself is gorgeous, with a lovely park and shopping plaza built underneath.
