iclub Wan Chai Hotel

For the choices in Wanchai, this hotel was great value for money and perfectly placed for what we needed. It was very clean, and housekeeping did their work without intruding. The service was impeccable, too. Everyone was professional, approachable, and really friendly and helpful.

Wan Chai felt much less crowded than Tsim Sha Tsui and Central, while still giving us the Hong Kong experience. The hotel is clean and well looked after, and the staff were friendly and accommodating. People I met in Hong Kong were pleasant, so I don’t understand the comments calling locals rude. Respect begets respect. There are at least 4 Michelin-recognized restaurants within walking distance, plus lots of other good food nearby, which made it convenient for food hopping. Tram, bus, and MTR stations are close. The 5th-floor iLounge is open 24/7, with unlimited free coffee and tea, and the coffee was good. Our room had enough space for us to move around comfortably, though it wasn’t especially big. The free Wi-Fi had good reception. I didn’t like that the restroom couldn’t be fully sealed off, although the exhaust worked really well. The water felt a little softer than I’m used to. We had a very pleasant stay.

The location is great, with buses, trams, and taxis right outside and the MTRC a short walk away. There are lots of stores and restaurants nearby. My room was an odd shape, but bright, clean, and fine. Check-in was busy when I arrived around 10pm, and with just one person on duty I had to wait. Then my passkey didn’t work, so I went back to reception and waited again while they reprogrammed it.

The location is fantastic, but there was noise through the night, and the hallway smelled of smoke with poor ventilation. The fire alarm went off in the middle of the night without warning. I called reception and was told to ignore it.
