The first room we were given was tiny, even though we had reserved a larger one. After we complained that it didn’t look anything like the photos online, they eventually moved us to the room we’d paid for. They wouldn’t let us leave the property on check-in night when we said we were unhappy. This should not be listed as a 4 star hotel, especially when the JW marriott and conrad are also listed at 4 stars. The website and Amex Travel photos are photoshopped, in my view. The hotel is old, dirty, and poorly kept, with stained, worn hallway carpet and an odor throughout. The first room smelled like someone had recently smoked in it. The window treatments were dusty, wallpaper was peeling, the door lock barely latched, and the shower was grimy. There were obvious signs of some kind of infestation, possibly bed bugs or something similar. Not a 4 star hotel and not worth the price. Stay elsewhere.

The photos are waaaaay different from reality, and Booking.com and other websites shouldn’t be putting this place on the market. The carpet was stained and smelled like wet carpet, the rooms were small, and the bathrooms were bad. The service was the one good part: the people were nice and very accommodating. This hotel is a rip-off. Worst and terrible hotel.

The rooms were comfortable and nice, and the staff were great. The location was pretty good, with an easy walk to most places, including the ferry port.

The location made it easy to explore Central and the mid-level escalators, and Central Station was close by too. The desk staff and porter were all extremely helpful.

It was quiet, and I slept well. The room was a bit tired, but perfectly adequate if you’re out during the day.
