Pop Inn Mong Kok

The staff were the bright spot. They were helpful and professional, and I got clean towels every day. Everything else felt cheap, rusty, or moldy, and the area outside the hotel stank. Staying here made me feel poor, and I regret not reading reviews before booking. There weren’t enough hooks in the bathroom, nowhere to hang long trousers after ironing, and no shelves despite all the wall space and the long corridor in my room. Water also pooled on the sink counter, so I got wet whenever I was near it.

The location worked well for me: close to the action, shops, and bus and train stations, but not right in the middle of everything. I felt safe walking back at night, and the staff were okay. The room was plainly unclean and had no soundproofing. Mold covered the ceiling, the room smelled bad, and the duvet was musty. The bed was rock hard and left me with terrible back pain. Some guests were inconsiderate, slamming doors or shouting at night. One person smoked in their room, and the smell lingered in mine for two days because of the air conditioning. Smoke and mold together... yeah. 🙃

The building feels old, and late at night I heard some very loud “u know what” noises, likeee uh! The shelter bus stop isn’t too far to walk to, and you’re in the middle of the mongkok areas.

For the price, it’s okay, and the staff were friendly. The location is alright, close to the main street and Mong Kok station, though there isn’t much to do right around there. I took off a star because there was mold on the bathroom ceiling and no microwave in the building.
