Ramada Hong Kong Harbour View

The rooftop pool was a nice feature, with views of the skyline and parts of Victoria Harbour. Rooms are compact, as is typical in Hong Kong, but clean and functional, with Wi-Fi, air conditioning, and a mini fridge. There are local restaurants, cafes, and convenience stores around the hotel, and the classic Hong Kong Tramways are nearby. Ramada Hong Kong Harbour View is a good value if you want a convenient base on Hong Kong Island. Sai Ying Pun MTR Station is about a 3-5 minute walk away, making it easy to reach Central District and Sheung Wan.

The best part was the restaurant staff on the 3rd floor. They reserved a table for Diamond members and took good care of our vegetarian diet. Manager Emilie worked hard to make sure everyone was seated and served promptly, and that breakfast stayed hot. She made veggie noodles for us every day and brought us hot coffee and a little water. We were very grateful. Annie at the front desk was also helpful, giving us ideas for things to do while we waited to check in. We stayed 5 nights. The location is great for ferries, the MTR, and sightseeing, and we liked the harbor view. But even though I’m a Diamond member and had told them in advance we’d arrive early, there was no room upgrade or welcome gift, and we waited in the waiting room for 4 hours before our room was ready. Housekeeping was a letdown. Towels weren’t replenished every day, and we had to wait or call the front desk for cleaning. The staff were rude, and sometimes refused to give us extra towels. The rooms are extremely tiny too, so a 3-star rating feels generous. With more than 1 large piece of luggage, there won’t be much room. If you stay here, take the ding-ding tram to the harbor, it was the best thing. For Kowloon, the Star ferry and KBM open bus tour for HKD 40 are worth doing, with Saturday or Sunday the best time. Use Uber for longer trips, it’ll be cheaper.

There are plenty of places to eat nearby, and things cost less on this western end of HK island. It’s close to the A1 exit at Saiying Poon MTR, though there’s a bit of a walk inside the station. The airport trip is easier and less crowded since fewer people live in this area. It’s two MTR stops to Central, then you can walk to HK Station for the airport express, about 40 minutes to the airport. A round-trip airport express ticket saves HKD25. Breakfast is average and inexpensive by HK standards. The main hassle in busy seasons was getting up and down. There are only 4 tiny elevators, each fitting 9 adults without luggage, for a hotel with over 350 rooms. The room was tiny too, and it was hard to turn around in the shower. The hair dryer was a disaster, a very old wall-connected machine that blows hot air out, working on the reverse principle of a vacuum cleaner.

I had an amazing time here on my last trip, over Christmas of 2025. They welcomed me warmly, and the room service was great. The hotel is in a nicely maintained area that wasn’t so crowded I felt overwhelmed, but didn’t feel deserted either. The prices and hospitality were amazing, and the staff speak English pretty well. I’d highly recommend it.
