Renaissance Harbour View Hotel Hong Kong

I’m mentioning the gym because there are hardly any photos showing its equipment. I used it four times, and it was quiet each time, very clean, and well maintained. The hotel also has an amazing breakfast buffet, one of the best I’ve come across in more than 100 hotel nights a year. Great hotel.

I didn't stay here, so I can't say anything about the rooms or service. But if you're attending an event at Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, the hotel feels like part of the complex. I got lost on the first day and asked a staff member for directions. They were very kind, so I'm sure the service is good.

Dynasty Restaurant was a highlight for me. The food felt like home cooking, and the staff kept my tea topped up. Edward was great about my shrimp allergy, which mattered since so many dishes have seafood. He answered our menu questions and checked on our table. It's a 10/10 restaurant, the best I've tried. Henry at the concierge was fast and effective, too. The hotel is close to the convention center and well connected. We had a great stay from arrival through our last day, thanks in large part to the welcoming, detail-oriented staff, who were always looking for ways to help. Patty Imthanavanich was the first to greet us and was caring and attentive whenever we had questions. Timmy Chau, the Manager, was proactive and helped us with whatever we needed. Stanton Lee, the Director, was attentive and made sure things met the high Renaissance standards we experienced. We'd definitely stay at this Renaissance again if we return to Hong Kong, and recommend it to family and friends.

The sustainability efforts were great: no single-use plastic, bamboo brushes and combs, and water cans in every room. The location and views are lovely, but the stay had its frustrations. I'd say it's better for business travel than a holiday. We stayed four days over New Year. Our reserved king room was a twin at check-in. Staff joined the beds, but it took nearly an hour. For the first two days we had a spacious, comfortable room with a garden-like view; the Harbour View room was smaller, though the view was beautiful. Our early check-in request also took a long time to come through, and staff seemed average, not especially proactive. There was no real New Year's Eve celebration, just one singing performance at the lobby restaurant. With no fireworks that year, the harbor view felt wasted, so we went out to celebrate. Elevators were another headache: waits could reach 15-20 minutes, with several lifts passing before one would take us up or down. Breakfast lines were long every morning because only one staff member checked guests.
