The Royal Garden Tsim Sha Tsui

We’ve spent the past eight months traveling and stayed in everything from hostels and homestays to hotels rated two through five stars, so we’ve seen a range of service. This hotel seems closer to three or four stars than five. Our reservation included “complimentary room service,” but we later learned that meant the room would only be serviced twice a week. That arrangement surprised us. The only other place where we’ve had to make our own bed was a hostel, where we expected it. We raised it with reception, who confirmed the room service was complimentary. We understand that “complimentary” means free, but having to make the beds doesn’t meet our expectations for a five-star hotel.

The deposit took nearly a month and several emails to get back, even though the hotel promised it would be refunded on checkout. At check-in, they required a deposit but had no card machine. We could pay cash or give them full card details, including the CVV and expiry, which was shocking in 2026. They printed the receipt on old continuous paper. We arrived around 20:00 and were put in a room with a bath instead of the shower we’d booked and paid for in a view room. Reception said our category was full, which made no sense with a confirmed booking. It was clearly a downgrade. They moved us to the correct category the next day, but the advertised “view” on the hotel website and Booking was misleading. The hotel isn’t directly on the bay as the photos suggest. We could see the harbor squeezed between two large buildings. The place feels extremely outdated, supposedly built in 1980 and “refreshed” in 2011, but still stuck in the 1990s. Disorganized and not trustworthy with payments. A very poor stay, and I wouldn’t return.

We were very comfortable in the spacious, well-equipped room, and the large bed helped us rest after long workdays. Breakfast was another standout: a fresh, well-prepared buffet with lots of Western and Asian choices, plus truly superb coffee. It made for a much better start to productive days. The Royal Garden Hotel Hong Kong is conveniently located near tourist attractions, metro stations, and tunnels, so it works well for both business and leisure. Excellent service, comfort, and quality. Highly recommended.

Lane and Morris in The Club Lounge made the trip special. Their hospitality was outstanding, and they worked as a great team to help guests relax. We had lounge access and enjoyed afternoon tea twice, evening drinks and canapés twice, and a couple of coffee breaks. The hotel is well situated in TST, close to the MTR, with easy access to central, Disney, and other areas. We also found a lot of attractions within walking distance. The amenities were a big plus: a lovely pool, a well-equipped-for-a-hotel gym, and a great sauna in the locker room. Breakfast was vast and delicious. A lovely stay at TRG.
