The sea view was nice, but I wouldn't call it beachfront. Between the room and beach there's a road, a car park, and lots of bushes, then you have to take a path across the road to get to the sand. We stayed four nights, and the room wasn't cleaned at all. Wi-Fi was off more often than it worked, and we had to bring our towels down to reception to get them changed. I think the price is too high for that.

There's a small, beautiful beach less than a five-minute walk away, and our room had a little balcony. Room 2001 was a decent size, with a clean bed that was comfortable enough. The bathroom was small but clean and had what we needed. The overhead shower had strong pressure, though the hot water lasted only a minute or two. The TV was small and had no channels, but there was a DVD player in the cupboard if you wanted to use it.

Tong Fuk is a quaint, quiet village near one of the best beaches on Lantau Island, and the hotel is in a nice spot. There are a couple of restaurants nearby, including a local Chinese canteen and The Gallery, plus shops like Tong Fuk Beach Store and Wan Kwong. The rooms were clean and decent on an earlier stay. Under the current owners, though, the hotel is listed on so many booking sites that it keeps overbooking. Be very careful: if they overbook you, they won't do anything to help.

The beach is cute, and for most of the day it felt like we had it to ourselves. The hostel isn't on the beach, though. The room's A/C listing is misleading: it's a tiny, old unit that can barely make the room comfortable. The savings weren't worth it.

A charming spot with a lovely ocean view, and a good deal compared with other places near the airport. The room was nice and clean, and it was a welcome break from the noise and chaos of central Hong Kong. I'll definitely stay here again when I'm in Hong Kong.
