We stayed in December 2019, and the traditional rooms felt especially cozy in the cold winter air. The building is beautiful and full of history. The owners and staff were lovely, welcoming, and helpful.

The family running the hotel was the best part of our stay. We had a medical issue, and they helped us with everything. We chose the place after reading earlier reviews, and it turned out to be a great choice. It's small, authentic, and welcoming, with an old-time feel that fits Pingyao. Like elsewhere in China, language can be a hurdle, but a translation app is enough to get by. Breakfast costs extra, so we ate out.
