D Red Loft

Chung King Mansion is in a prime spot, so it’s easy to get around from the hostel. My New Year holiday stay at Red D Loft was a unique experience, and I had no complaints about the place itself. I arrived and checked in at 3pm, which I have to admit is pretty late. Contrary to some comments, I wasn’t asked for a deposit, and check-in was hassle-free. I hadn’t expected the room to be quite so small, but it was enough for me as a solo traveller. Bench, the staff member I often saw working there, was polite and helpful, and did what they could to accommodate my requests. The lifts were the main issue. The hostel is on the 15th floor of blk A, and there are two passenger lifts, but only one stops directly at the floor. At peak times the wait can be long.

We walked away without staying a night because the atmosphere felt so hostile, and we lost the money we’d paid. We had booked and paid in advance through Agoda, expecting basic hospitality, but the owner was rude, aggressive, arrogant, and unprofessional. We felt unwelcome and even thought we might be facing discrimination. On arrival, they demanded a HKD 3,000 deposit without a proper reason, which hadn’t been clearly stated before booking and felt like a scam. This was one of my worst accommodation experiences, and I don’t usually write reviews. I wouldn’t recommend D Red Loft to anyone. If you care about your time, money, and dignity, stay far away. Agoda should reconsider listing it.

The owner was hostile, arrogant, and extremely rude, with no courtesy at all. He treated guests like a burden instead of customers. That kind of behavior is completely unacceptable in hospitality. Stay away from this hostel.

The owner was very nice and had plenty of good suggestions for things to do around the city. The room was decent, and the location was good.
