Johnson Hostel

The mattress was firm in a way I liked, and I slept really well. At night it was quiet, with no noisy neighbors or loud street noise. Construction 1-2 blocks away can be heard in the morning and afternoon, but you can close the window and run the AC as white noise if you want to nap. The room is clean, and the metro is literally a block away. It may feel small if you're used to standard US rooms, but it's affordable. Ask the front desk if there are no towels in your room. The hair dryer is shared and kept outside the room, just return it after use. To run the AC, use the switch just outside by the room door. For hot shower water, turn on the heater switch next to the bathroom door and give it 10-15 min. The right elevator goes to the 11th floor. The elevator on the right goes to odd number floors. Great stay, I'd come back!

The owner was really helpful and could communicate in English. It's on the 11th floor of Sincere house, after 2 cross roads from MTR Mong Kok exit D2, as the owner messaged me before the trip. The solo room is just for one person without much luggage, with one bed, one cupboard and one washroom. It's suitable for solo travellers or people who aren't expecting much from the hotel room.

The building itself is very old, but the room was clean and comfortable. There are lots of places to eat, and it's right by 2 major shopping malls, Ladies Market and Sneaker Street. Mong Kok and Mong Kok East MTR stations are nearby too. I'd visit again.

I had to extend my stay for 5 days because the room was so good, and the owner and staff greeted me whenever we crossed paths. The room was amazing and perfect, though the bathroom was narrow, which I think is just the Hong Kong aesthetic. I loved being in the middle of bustling Hong Kong, and Mong Kok was a perfect location for me. One booking I had was canceled on me, and I'm really thankful the owner responded quickly and accommodated me in the middle of the night. It exceeded my expectations. The only part I didn't like was getting into Sincere House, where the hostel is. The elevator can sometimes be crowded, and after 12AM you have to use the entrance on the other side of Sincere House.
