W's Lounge

The place is cramped and wasn’t worth the price, even by Hong Kong standards. The Agoda listing showed a four-bed unit, but we were disappointed to find two separate rooms with two beds each. The bathroom had roaches on the walls, mattress, and throughout the room. They returned even after daily cleaning. The shower swung from cold to scalding, and you’re told not to flush tissue, but there’s no bathroom bin. Getting in and out was a hassle too. The lift is shared by all the budget hostels upstairs, holds only five people, and often meant a wait of at least five minutes. It doesn’t reach the unit, so you still have to climb a flight of stairs, which isn’t good with luggage. The stairs smelled strongly of cigarette smoke, and the trash left behind the door was disgusting.

I couldn’t manage even one night here. It was the worst place I’ve stayed, and the price doesn’t make it worth it. Don’t book, seriously. It appears under a bunch of names: Super Guesthouse, Sydney Hostel, Cegbu Inn, The One Inn, W's Lounge, Metrocity Lounge, and Top Guesthouse. They seem to be hiding behind different names and fake reviews.

A good option if you want to stay centrally without paying too much. Chungking Mansions is conveniently close to Victoria Harbour, and although the rooms are compact, they were comfortable enough. We found the place clean and satisfactory, and the service was pleasant.

There was rubbish under the bed, and it looked like nobody had cleaned there in weeks, despite the cleaning fee. The room was much smaller than advertised, with cockroaches crawling on the bed. Don’t waste your money here.
