Kunming Xiongye Hotel

The subway station is only 100+ meters away, and although the nearby Train Station is no longer operating, you can use Kunming Station for trains. Kunming South Station is too far away. That still makes this a 3-star hotel for me. It’s on Peking Road, a nice location, with a convenient store next door and the Airport Shuttle station just a few steps farther along. The breakfast is okay, but there’s no Coffee or Red Tea and no a la carte menu, which is a shame for a large international standard hotel. The hotel has been around 30 years and was refurbished in late decade. The decorations and facilities are top quality, but if I’d visited 20 years ago, I’d definitely have given it five stars. The refrigerator in my room was just for show. A technician said the hotel’s refrigerators don’t work because management refused to replace them after coolant leakage. I can live without a refrigerator, but not with one that’s only decoration. They bring two units of Yogurt every day, but leave them at room temperature. I wouldn’t dare eat Yogurt that hasn’t been stored at 2-6°C.
