The owner was lovely and helpful, and speaks good English. The homestay is a five-minute walk from the bus station and about ten minutes from the old town. If you're planning to visit the tiger leaping gorge, she can arrange private transport. Amazing hospitality, thank you 🙏

She speaks English very well and helped us a lot, especially with figuring out how to get to the tiger leaping gorge.

The room also had a bad smell, and they gave us the wrong one. We had booked a double bed room, but they had rented that room out. Instead of telling us directly, they were suspiciously kind and kept asking, "is room okay?" I only realized after checking the room again, then confronted them and they admitted what had happened. They offered no compensation. I'd rather people own up to mistakes and be honest.

The woman running Mama Naxi Guesthouse was so kind. When I arrived late in the evening, she gave me an apple and a little hard candy, then arranged for the bus to pick me up at 7:30 for the hike. It's right next to the Ancient City and Zhongyi Market, making it a great base for seeing Lijiang and starting the Tiger Leaping Gorge hike. She also makes great traditional Tibetan buckwheat pancakes!

Mama Naxi was exactly the kind of Chinese mum you hope to find. She takes care of you and helps with whatever you need, in such a spontaneous, easygoing way. Simply perfect. I'm glad I found this place.
